New Space for Women's Health
The New Space for Women’s Health is building an independent women’s health and birth center in midtown Manhattan in early 2010. Midwives, mental health professionals, family educators and a community of other professionals will provide over 17,000 women and families each year with:

prenatal, birth, and postpartum care,
childbirth education,
breastfeeding support,
gynecological services, and
social work and psychological care.

The New Space will be a powerful catalyst to improve the quality of health and maternity care for all women in New York City. Women and families currently have few choices about their care and how they wish to have their children. To restore access to a full range of care options, a generously donated lease in a prime midtown location will provide 8,000 square feet of welcoming and environmentally sustainable space for our center. The country’s leading architects in “green” health care design are creating a remarkable space that embodies our core values.

The New Space is inclusive and will serve privately insured and Medicaid clients, and vulnerable populations including the working poor, recent immigrants, adolescents and members of the lesbian and transgender population who often feel unwelcome in traditional health care settings. The center’s supportive, nurturing philosophy of care includes identifying and providing services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, and for women who may be at risk.
Imagine the NEW SPACE... Safe. Healthy. Inclusive. Sustainable. A new paradigm in health care for women and families. We say it's time for a change.
