About the New Space

Imagine the NEW SPACE... Safe. Healthy. Inclusive. Sustainable. A new paradigm in health care for women and families. We say it's time for a change.

The New Space
for Women's Health

The New Space for Women’s Health is improving the quality of health care for all women in New York City by establishing an independent, freestanding center for birth, breastfeeding, and women’s health care, opening in midtown Manhattan in early 2010.

Midwives, mental health professionals, family educators and a community of other professionals will provide over 20,000 women and families each year with prenatal, birth, and postpartum care; childbirth education; breastfeeding support; gynecological services; and social work and psychiatric care.

New Space is inclusive and will open its doors to populations who may traditionally feel unwelcome in standard healthcare facilities including: the working poor; recent immigrants; adolescents; and members of lesbian and transgender communities.

All women and their newborn babies deserve the best, and we are designing a center specifically to meet their needs. Our beautiful, personalized, state-of-the-art birth center and women’s health center will be built to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED-CI gold standard.

Safe. Healthy. Inclusive. Sustainable.

We say it’s time for a change.
